With endpoint visibility and control built into VAIO laptop firmware, IT leaders can safeguard data and devices in the office or in the field
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — November 14, 2018 — Absolute (TSX: ABT), the endpoint visibility and control company, today announced a new strategic partnership with VAIO Corporation to enhance endpoint security capabilities within VAIO devices. As a result of the collaboration, VAIO has selected Absolute’s patented Persistence technology to be integrated within the VAIO Pro PA and VAIO A12 models just introduced in Japan today. With Absolute’s Persistence technology, VAIO devices become an integral part of an organization’s security strategy from the moment a device is activated, creating the last line of defense for data protection.
The increasing mobility of remote workers creates exponential risk for organizations looking to keep their proprietary data secure. However, the benefits of business being conducted anywhere, at anytime, often outweighs the inherent risks of mobility. The traditional network perimeter has been effectively diminished as the primary defense against an organization’s security threats or vulnerabilities. The digital workforce transformation is also causing device manufacturers like VAIO to re-evaluate the engrained capabilities offered within their systems and implement new technologies that contribute to a stronger security posture on the endpoint.
“Strengthening device and data security is critical for every organization, which made the decision to implement additional security capabilities on the endpoint an easy one for us,” said Kaoru Hayashi, Corporate Officer at VAIO Corporation. “Combined with our fingerprint and face identification technology, VAIO devices with Absolute’s Persistence technology create a powerful security instrument that helps organizations ensure that they stay in control of their data and minimize vulnerabilities or risk associated with cyber threats.”
Absolute’s Persistence technology creates a digital tether to keep IT teams informed about the security of their device populations, in control of their endpoints with remediation actions and in compliance with audit-ready reporting and automation capabilities. This self-healing connection eliminates the ability for users to tamper with or disable vital security controls mandated by their IT teams.
“As business is increasingly conducted on the go, IT and security teams are left trying to keep up with ever-changing security risks and vulnerabilities exacerbated by today’s mobile workforce,” said Mark Grace, Senior Vice President of Worldwide OEM, Channel and Business Development at Absolute. “With this newest strategic partnership, VAIO and Absolute are giving IT the power to minimize the risks of data falling into the wrong hands through insecure or improperly configured endpoints.”
