Computrace Data Protection

Computrace Data Protection allows customers to track stationary, remote and mobile computer assets and remotely wipe sensitive data if the computer is lost, stolen or nearing the end of its lifecycle. The product is centrally managed by the IT department, providing visibility for up to 100% of their connected computer assets, including the 40% of hard to locate assets that Gartner Group says are missed by conventional IT asset management tools.

With Computrace Data Protection you can:

  • Remotely delete data or disk wipe
  • Track laptops & remote computers
  • Protect proprietary information
  • Ensure data protection regulatory compliance
  • Software & hardware inventory management
  • Manage computer drift

Your Data is Your Responsibility - Protect it!

Protecting your data is no longer an option, it is a requirement. Government legislation mandates that organizations must publicly report any security breach that is reasonably believed to have compromised personal information. Despite this requirement, most corporate IT departments can only account for 60% of their computing assets¹ and even more alarming, 73% of companies do not have specific security policies documented for their laptop computers.²

Minimize Corporate Liability

With Computrace Data Protection, you can remotely delete sensitive data on target computers that have fallen outside your jurisdiction. This is particularly effective in cases of loss or theft.

Computrace Data Protection can also be used for lifecycle management to ensure that computers are left clean and free of sensitive data at the end of life or lease. Effective lifecycle management requires that computing assets are digitally scrubbed prior to retirement. The Data Delete function ensures that retired machines do not pose any unnecessary risk.

Protect Data in the Event of a Theft

Computrace Data Protection uses a Data Delete algorithm that meets the United States Department of Defense standard for data removal. Once removed, data cannot be recovered by any means. When a Data Delete function completes, a log file can be viewed in the Customer Center website, confirming that all sensitive data has been deleted – helping companies and organizations comply with data protection laws and regulations.

Secure Asset Tracking Gives You the Power To Manage Your Assets

With Computrace Data Protection, you can centrally manage your entire computer population, including remote and mobile assets. Secure Asset Tracking™ reports enable you to locate and report on the activities of computers that have drifted within an organization, have gone missing or have been used for unauthorized activities. Knowing who has each asset, the software and hardware installed on it, and where they are, helps companies comply with government regulations, return leased assets at the end of their lifecycle and safely retire outdated equipment.

The Ideal Solution for Managing Remote and Mobile Assets

In addition to the remote Data Delete option, Computrace Data Protection offers access to online reporting modules. By adding visibility to the 40% of computers that go unseen by traditional asset management systems, Computrace Data Protection takes your asset management further. With a small, stealthy and tamper-resistant client application that reports detailed information using minimal bandwidth, it is ideal for remote and mobile computers. Traditional asset management systems can lose track of assets such as laptops when they drift to unknown locations, are reassigned to new users or those that are not connected to the LAN. With Computrace Data Protection, laptops report changes in asset information on a daily basis – regardless of user or location.
